The 2023 model was the last gas-powered Dodge Challenger, but an electric version is still available. Dodge announced the discontinuation in August 2022, and CEO Tim Kuniskis said previously that emissions regulations would make manufacturing gas-powered muscle cars difficult. Electric vehicles can provide the performance of a gas model with low emissions and high efficiency.

The last gas-powered Challenger signified the end of an era, and it’s likely to increase in price as models get more rare and harder to find.
The 2023 Challenger has a classic, muscular style, and the base trim level is the SXT. You can also choose GT, R/T, or SRT trims. Dodge offers several Last Call Special Edition packages to commemorate the vehicle’s last year.
The SXT and the GT have a 3.6-liter, Pentastar V-6 engine that gives 303 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque. With the GT, you’ll get attractive round headlights, air intakes on the hood, 18-inch wheels, a rear spoiler, heated manually-folding side mirrors, and all-season performance tires. Interior features include an auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone climate control, and speed-sensitive volume control.
The Blacktop Last Call Special Edition package is available with the GT and the SXT. It has blacked-out exterior badges and a high-performance suspension.
The R/T has a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 that provides 375 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. It comes with a six-speed manual transmission, or you can choose an eight-speed automatic transmission. Along with the GT’s features, the R/T has an active exhaust system and a leather-wrapped performance steering wheel with paddle shifters.
With the R/T Scat Pack, you’ll get a 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 that gives 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. Both options generate a guttural growl. The Shakedown Last Call Special Edition has a matching exterior and interior with black and red styling. It’s available with the R/T Scat Pack and the R/T Scat Pack Widebody.
The SRT comes with a supercharged, 6.2-liter HEMI V-8 with 717 horsepower and 656 pound-feet of torque. You can also choose a motor with 807 horsepower and 707 pound-feet of torque. With the SRT Super Stock, you can reach 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds. Track Mode adjusts traction and suspension settings for optimal performance. The SRT also has a suspension with adaptive damping, 20-inch wheels, and a hood scoop.
As Challengers weren’t available in 2024, and in 2025, you can choose the Challenger EV. The base model will offer about 455 horsepower, and a Banshee 800-volt power plant that can reach over 800 horsepower is optional. Standard features include regenerative braking with adjustable levels, a dual-valve adaptive damping system for better handling, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assistance.
